After studying at Vidal Sassoon in San Francisco, Jehr Schiavo travelled the world styling stars from Billy Idol and The Talking Heads to Blythe Danner and Nine Inch Nails. As much an esoteric as a stylist, Jehr is a self-described “visual artist who works in the medium of hair.” Now operating out of lofts, suites, and homes, Jehr brings celebrity-caliber hair creations to the masses as he jetsets across the country with wife and daughter in tow.

The “Jehrcut” is anything but a trip to the salon. A total one-on-one experience, this is hair styling stripped down to its most basic, elemental form.

Consultation begins as Jehr takes in your hair texture, face structure, and personal style, inquiring about your current regimen and what you’re looking for before suggesting possible changes. More importantly, he explains these changes: your cheekbones, the slight wave in your hair, the way your locks brush your shoulders—no detail is unnoticed. No one else could possibly have your same “Jehrcut.”

Jehr adroitly snips and cuts as you look out on bustling SoMa. By removing the mirror from the equation you become the focal point. There are no chatting stylists or thumping stereos, no wall of products or smell of dye in the air. After your cut, you see your hair exactly as appears the next day with no blow drying or styling.
