EPIC Roasthouse - Review by BloomSpot Editor

EPIC Roasthouse is a restaurant "Beyond the Traditional Steak House", offering a unique combination of the traditional and the contemporary. Chef Jan Birnbaum has broadened the steak house experience to include a new level of culinary sophistication while maintaining the classic comfort and elegance of a traditional steak house meal. The food is deep, soulful, and resonant with exciting sparks of contrast.

To complement Chef Birnbaum’s menu EPIC Roasthouse features an extensive wine list of approximately 400 bottles as well as an innovative bar menu featuring handmade cocktails, domestic and imported beers.

EPIC’s grand main dining room features striking columns, rich luxurious fabrics, and deep inset, paneled, steel-framed windows that look out over the bay. Chef Birnbaum presides over a custom-built wood-fired grill and a large wood-burning oven, which, along with a spectacular fireplace, are among the highlights of Pat Kuleto’s restaurant design.

What people on Yelp are saying...

"Last night two friends treated me to a belated birthday dinner at Epic Roasthouse, and it was luscious...the service was impeccable, and the food - oh, my, the food. The filet mignon is phenomenal..., and the sides are delightful. Truffled cauliflower, brussels sprouts, scalloped potatoes... can you go wrong? Well, probably you can, but Epic Roasthouse doesn't." - Avery B., San Francisco, CA

"The name of the place does not lie, the dishes here are epic in both flavor and portion. Situated grandly along the Embarcadero waterfront, this vast 6,000 sq. foot complex of sorts is a marvel at doing high-volume fine dining with impecabble service. I ordered the "Wood Oven Roasted Pork Porterhouse with Summer Stone Fruit and Homemade Ricotta Gnocchi" and it was just outstanding, a fantastic cut of meat." - Saminda W., San Francisco, CA

"The soup was remarkable. A butternut squash soup which had one of the most comforting tastes I've ever had. It felt down home, and with each spoonful, you felt as if you were on a porch swing swaying back and forth on a wrap around porch. Comfort. Food." - Mike K, San Francisco
