To appreciate the charm of Chez TJ, one must share in the story of this iconic South Bay staple.

Originally built in 1894, Chez TJ was home to Julius and Fanny Weilheimer, active members in the Mountain View Farmers and Merchant's Bank and the town council. Their home on sleepy Villa Street was acquired by George Aviet and Thomas J. McCombie, who served the first dinner on November 26, 1982. The response was beyond the owners’ wildest dreams.

Locals and diners from around the Bay Area flocked to the cozy restaurant. Gourmet magazine claims Chez TJ is "worth a detour from San Francisco". Today, George continues on the same path that he and Tom had embarked on, in honor of Tom's memory and friendship. One of the most celebrated restaurants in the South Bay for almost three decades, Chez TJ draws patrons and critics with exquisite French cuisine meticulously crafted from locally-sourced ingredients.
