Words don’t do justice to the Campton Place Restaurant; this institution has to be experienced first-hand. But one thing’s certain: this is no mediocre “it’s noon, so where do you want to go?” workday lunch. At Campton Place, they hand down what Michelin gave them and treat you like a star.

Rarely is a restaurant so well-rounded. Both the Chronicle and Zagat commend Campton Place on all counts: service, atmosphere, and, of course, food. This summer treat yourself to the best of Chef Srijith Gopinathan’s acclaimed “Spice Route” cuisine, made from Northern California’s best produce. He peppers his classic European cooking—learned at world-renowned restaurants from New York to Maldives—with influences from his mother and grandmother’s kitchen in southern India.

There’s nowhere else to find rabbit ragout perfectly paired with saffron linguini. And what’s a workday escape without the perfect dessert? It doesn’t get much better than the classic chocolate cake with a side fresh berries. Yes, you’ll have to return to the office. But this little bite of heaven will make the rest of the day oh-so-worth-it.
