Offshore Sailing School
A love of adventure on the high seas led founder Steve Colgate to create Offshore Sailing School in 1964 and to meet his wife Doris—also a nautical enthusiast—just a few years later. The duo are active participants in the sailing community as members of US SAILING and other prestigious positions, continually channeling their expertise into the school’s polished curriculum.
With individual instruction in a class size of four, learn to sail confidently at the helm of a Colgate 26, the boat designed by Steve Colgate specifically for teaching and selected by the US Coast Guard Academy and US Naval Academy for their own training. The three-day course provides six hours of visual and auditory classroom preparation, followed by 18 hours of sailing and experiential learning on the famed Hudson River.
Equipped with the framework for continued exploration, share this pastime with loved ones or keep it for your own quiet escapes. Course enrollment also qualifies for membership in the Offshore Sailing Club. Located at the Liberty Landing Marina, the club provides opportunities for daily sails, local races, and social events.
